Was the score right?
Pick a year: we group companies by the score they had then, and look at what their accounts published in the following years show. Each year's score uses only the accounts available at that date.
| Group by 2021 score | Companies | Median annual revenue growth, 2021–2022 | Still profitable in 2022 | Fell below 40 by 2022 | Median score in 2022 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Score 70+ (strong) | 43 | +10.9% | 93% | 5% | 79 |
| Score 40–69 (average) | 41 | +11.6% | 88% | 5% | 62 |
| Score below 40 (weak) | 16 | +7.9% | 44% | 69% | 32 |
How to read this table
If the score measures financial strength well, companies in the first group should, on average, stay profitable more often and fall below 40 less often than those in the last group.
This test looks at the accounts the companies published, not at their share price. The sample is the large companies Scorvest follows that are still listed today: companies that disappeared in the meantime are missing, which flatters the weak groups. Past results are no guide to future results; this is not investment advice.
